SUMMARY:Closing Reception for "Waterways and Woodcuts" at the Old Schwamb Mill
DESCRIPTION:Join Don Gorvett and the folks at The Old Schwamb Mill for the closing of Waterways and Woodcuts\, a solo exhibit of woodcut prints and blocks on Saturday\, November 15th\, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm in Arlington\, MA.\n\n\n\nMuch of Don Gorvett's work is centered on architecture and the activities along river and coastal shorelines. The remains of waterside industries from the past century serve as a tangible connection to history. "I am fascinated by the ghostly quality of these buildings looming out of the mists\, endowed with strength and endurance. For me\, historic architecture represents a bridge between one life span into another."\n\n \n\nMill Hours: Tuesday and Saturday\, 10am-4pm. Featuring guided workshop tours\; the exhibition "Waterways and Woodcuts"\, an interactive family gallery\, plus custom-made\, museum quality\, oval and circular picture frames for purchase.\n\nThe Old Schwamb Mill\, 17 Mill Lane\, Arlington\, MA\, 02476\, www.oldschwambmill.org.\n\n781-643-0554 or info@oldschwambmill.org\n\n \n\nThe image used for the exhibit's poster is "Taking the Path Least Travelled"\, a reduction woodcut that depicts Portsmouth Harbor as seen from the riverbank on Bow St\, Portsmouth\, NH\, in the 1990s. Today\, the view from the riverbank is obscured by recent development.
