DESCRIPTION:SPRING SALON\n\nTHIS MONTH'S THEME:\n\nPOETRY\n\nK. IVER ~ MIRIAM LEVINE ~ VIJAYA SUNDARAM\n\nAPRIL 4TH\, 2024 AT 7:30 AT KICKSTAND CAFE IN ARLINGTON CENTER\n\n\n\nK. Iver is a nonbinary trans poet born in Mississippi. Their debut collection Short Film Starring My Beloved?s Red Bronco won the Ballard Spahr Prize for Poetry from Milkweed Editions\, selected by Tyehimba Jess. Short Film was a finalist for the Kate Tufts Discovery Award and named a Best Book of 2023 by the New York Public Library. Iver?s poems have appeared in Boston Review\, Kenyon Review\, LA Review of Books\, and elsewhere. Iver?s fellowships include the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing\, the Sewanee Writers Conference\, and the Ragdale Foundation. They have a Ph.D. in Poetry from Florida State University.\n\n\nMiriam Levine is the author of six collections of poetry\, among them\, The Dark Opens\, chosen by Mark Doty for the Autumn House Poetry Prize. Other books include: Devotion\, a memoir\; In Paterson\, a novel. Her work has appeared in American Poetry Review\, The Kenyon Review\, The Paris Review\, and Ploughshares. Levine\, a winner of a Pushcart Prize\, is a fellow of the NEA and a grantee of the Massachusetts Artists Foundation. She lives in Florida and New Hampshire with her husband John Lane. \n\n\n\n\nVijaya Sundaram is a Medford-based poet of East Indian origin.  She is also a guitarist\, sitarist\, songwriter\, singer\, an Assistant Professor in the English/Humanities department in the local community college\, and a home-schooling Poetry and Literature teacher.  Her work has appeared in publications like The Rising Phoenix Press\, the Stardust Review\, and TELL Magazine\, among others. In the summer of 2023\, she was appointed and celebrated as the Poet Laureate of the City of Medford\, MA.
