AIFF Closes Film Submissions for 2014 Media Contact: J. Alberto Guzman 857.209.1122 arlingtonfilmfest@gmail.com The Arlington International Film Festival announces the close of submissions for its 2014 Festival. More than 140 films were received from the countries of Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Estonia, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Greece, Hawaii, India, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kosovo, Malta, Mexico, Nepal, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Syria, Ukraine and USA. The AIFF competition categories are: Best of Festival, Best Narrative Feature, Best Documentary Feature, Best Narrative Short, Best Documentary Short, and this year AIFF will include an Audience Award. AIFF works year round to produce an annual sustainable festival that pays homage to its mission of fostering appreciation for different cultures by exploring the lives of people around the globe through independent film. In addition, AIFF produces events with distinctive cultural experiences throughout the year. We reflect on our history of 3 years with pride and look to the future with excitement, bringing a portfolio of films and experiences that are without comparison in the region. Thanks to our ambitious and imaginative development team, AIFF continues to set itself apart from other festivals, building recognition as a national festival that brings international excellence and innovation to the region. This past year AIFF has been feted with several awards, the Alan McClennen Community Arts Award by the Arlington Center for the Arts, the Gold Star Award by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and Person of the Year award by the Arlington Avocado Blog. AIFF?s mission has always included focus on the enrichment of the community while broadening the view of our world and ourselves. Utilizing the power of collaboration, AIFF has engaged and involved students, volunteers, businesses and town leaders, fellow arts organizations, and of course, filmmakers from around the world. AIFF believes that the arts are here to connect us, to communicate across boundaries, and to touch our common humanity. Since the beginning of the year, AIFF has screened films in partnership with the Winchester Multicultural Network, Visual Art Department of AHS, Boston Environmental Film Festival, Art Medford, The Regent Theatre, Somerville Community Access TV, Arlington Community Access TV, Belmont World Film Series and First Parish Unitarian Universalist Mass Incarceration Group. The Arlington International Film Festival will celebrate its 4th year of ?cinematic journeys around the world? October 15 ? 19 at Arlington?s historic Regent Theatre, Arlington, MA.
