Description

Saturday, May 11 is Community Collection Day at the Arlington DPW Yard, 51 Grove Street. Please enter Grove Street from Mass Ave. The semi-annual drop-off event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine.  Residents can drop off a variety of home items to be recycled or disposed of safely.

Foam - NEW this Collection Day - Read press release for additional details
- Expanded Polystyrene materials (#6 PS symbol), “Styrofoam ©” products accepted
-must be rinsed free of food particles
-white and colors accepted
-no packing peanuts of any kind
-items accepted include coolers, school lunch trays, foam plates, meat/fish foam tray packaging, hot cups, packing blocks, egg cartons, white insulation board

SAFE COLLECTION
-Sharps will be collected ONLY in red sharps disposal containers
- Medications are collected 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the Arlington Police Department, 112 Mystic Street. NO medications will be accepted at Community Collection Day

Mercury items
-Thermostats, button cell batteries, thermometers. Also collected at DPW during regular business hours.
- NO CFL bulbs- please take these to the local hardware stores for collection.

RECYCLING
Electronics
Electronics
- TVs, computer monitors ($10 per item) and laptops ($5 per item). Curbside pick up of large TVs is available this day for $20 with purchase of a sticker from DPW by Friday, May 10 at noon.
- Electronics such as cameras, pagers, phones, toasters, printers (ink cartridges removed) and microwaves (this day only) are collected free of charge. NO large appliances, which are collected for $20 each item by calling JRM at 1-800-323-4285.
- Electronics are collected at DPW during regular business hours, visit www.arlingtonma.gov for more information.

Paper
- Residents can bring confidential papers for shredding. This year we invite cash donations for the Arlington Food Pantry in lieu of a per-box fee - Businesses pay $5 per box.

Bottles & Cans
- Returnable bottles and cans will be collected by Arlington High Schools S.A.V.E. environmental club- proceeds donated to charity.
      
Scrap Metal
- Pipes, metal shelves and desks, file cabinets (NO large appliances), and propane tanks (up to 20 lbs).

Batteries
- All rechargeable batteries except car batteries
-Alkaline batteries can be placed in regular trash

DONATION
Books, clothing and toys:
- Clean used children’s clothing, books and working toys for Little Fox (library) Shop
- Books, DVDs and CDs for Stratton School PTO- NO encyclopedias
- Clean used clothing, shoes, small household goods
- Old sneakers for recycling

Bicycles
- Donate your adult bicycle to Bikes Not Bombs. Bikes are repaired and shipped overseas. A $10 contribution is requested to offset cost of shipping. Badly rusted bikes will not be accepted but can be left as scrap metal.
