Description

Patriots Day Celebration

10:00 am
Whittemore Park
611 Mass Ave.

Hear ye, hear ye! Experience our two favorite Paul Revere-inspired poems – one authored by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and the other by Cyrus Dallin – brought to life by Arlington locals! Get the inside story on the Battle of Menotomy and imagine what it was like on that tumultuous day in 1775. Learn about Dallin’s 57-year battle to complete his famous monument to Paul Revere in Boston. The Dallin Museum will be open, and visitors will have an opportunity to view a newly acquired antique bronze cast of Dallin’s Revere.

This is a free event. Families are welcome! Bring chairs/blankets. View the schedule of speakers here.
Note: The rain date for this event is Sunday, April 24 at 11 am.

During this fun, hands-on program, kids will explore how young Cyrus Dallin taught himself to sculpt by observing the wildlife and people around him. Kids will participate in an age-appropriate tour of the galleries followed by a hand-building workshop where they will learn Dallin’s method for making armatures to create their own clay sculptures. A materials fee of $20 per child ($15 for members with promo code) is due in advance of the program.

Space is limited! Early registration is recommended. Please register by Friday, April 15. For more information including member promo code, please contact Nancy Blanton at nblanton@dallin.org or 617-304-9655. All children must be accompanied by a caregiver.
