Description
Arlington's ban on single use plastic bags will go into affect on March 1 (for retailers over 10,000 sf) and on July 1 (for all other retailers). After these dates, only recycleable paper bags and reuseable bags will be permitted. Exceptions to the bylaw are produce bags, drycleaner bags, newspaper bags, and bags used to contain fish or meet. Retailers will not be allowed to charge bags.
The Health Department will hold an informational meeting on March 15 to answer questions and concerns regarding the new law.
