Description
Join ArtsArlington, representatives of the Arlington Public Schools, and local community organizations for a festive gathering honoring the 12 high school student interns who worked with artist Tom Starr to develop markers – inspired by historic trail markers but imagining future events caused by climate change. Meet Tom Starr and the interns, plus enjoy music by the High School’s Honors Orchestra and Jazz Band, refreshments, an art display, and the opportunity to meet friends and neighbors who work to care for the environment and build community.
Twenty-three markers are now installed in public places around Arlington, and each marker will connect (via QR code) to more information on the project website, written by the interns . The markers carry message developed by the interns to reveal potential impacts of climate change on the landscape and community – floods, record temperatures, emotional distress. The markers also suggest hopeful strategies to develop resiliency to better manage these challenges.
