News Release: 4/16/2022 - Call for Artists - Live Arts Arlington

The Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture has an opportunity for artists from across all performance and art forms to “take to the streets” in June, July and August 2022 to share their art with Arlington residents and visitors as part of LIVE ARTS ARLINGTON.
Artists will activate public space, via performance or demonstration, at an agreed upon date and time. ACAC will provide advance promotion, signage, and a $100 stipend. Artists are encouraged to put out a “hat” to collect donations from the public.
Selection Criteria: Artists will be selected based on fit between the artist and the space, and diversity of artistic offering across the program. Once those criteria are addressed, preference will be given to artists who live and/or work in Arlington.
If I get chosen, what do I have to do?
– Obtain a $12 street performance license from the town of Arlington, via the Select Board office at Town Hall. With this license you are welcome to busk in Arlington through December 31, 2021.
– Schedule a time, date and location with ACAC for you/your group to perform/create/share.
– Provide ACAC with promotional language and photos/video, so we can get the word out.
– Show up and do your thing!
What happens if it rains? We find another mutually convenient date and time.
How do I apply? Please fill out this seven-question Google form. We’ve tried to make this step as easy as possible, and the form shouldn’t take more than 10-15 minutes to complete.
Summary: Live Arts Arlington (LAA) is a public performance and creation initiative designed to put live arts in the path of the broadest swath of Arlington residents and visitors. Performances are often placed in town parklets and well trafficked business districts for maximum impact on audiences, performers and businesses alike. Arlington values diversity. We strongly encourage candidates of varied backgrounds, including people of color, persons with disabilities and others to apply. Since 2019, Live Arts Arlington has included Egyptian dance, puppetry, classical, jazz and popular music performance, art making, portraiture, and basket weaving.
