Christine Penney of Something Sweet Without Wheat will present the inspiring story of following her passion and attaining a successful business.
Christine Penney’s passion for gluten-free baking was born by her own family’s severe food allergies, including those she has herself, and those of her niece. Christine and her sister Sandy founded Something Sweet Without Wheat in 2010 by bringing their baked goods to a local farmer’s market. They received great reviews and had such a loyal following that they opened up a wholesale facility and bakery. A year later, they established a second location run by Christine’s son, Joe, in Arlington.
In addition to their two locations and countless retail partners, they serve many of the top universities, hospitals & restaurants in the New England and East Coast areas. They have been featured in Boston Magazine, Fox 25 News, Chronicle, The Boston Globe and have been asked to film a segment for America’s Test Kitchen in April. Something Sweet Without Wheat has been the exclusive GF caterer to a number of Hollywood movies filmed in Massachusetts.
